This may not include everything, but generally speaking, we have found that the following Android OS features need to be allowed by MDM software in order for pLog to function properly:

  • Communication with other applications via the Intent Service - used for previewing logs, sending dataset support requests, etc.
  • The Storage Access Framework - this allows pLog to read and write from internal and external storage

Additionally, in the event that we need to repair a broken dataset, or a user needs to transfer a backup file from one device to another, MDM needs to permit pLog to access files sourced from external locations. For example, we have encountered issues where MDM software was wiping datasets that were downloaded from email attachments.

pLog requires the following permissions to be granted by the user, which MDM needs to honor:

  • Camera
  • Files and media
  • Location
  • Phone

Finally, when we learn about new MDM requirements, we will update this page accordingly.
